Another Side of Rain

I’ve been through so many seasons and I’ve seen so much rain, but today is one of sunshine where I can’t feel any pain.

I watch the people all around me as they run to do their tasks.

Here I sit and wonder if I’d make a difference if I asked.

“Why are you always running, “What are you striving for? The beauty you seek is here now and you need not look any more.”

My eyes were closed like yours seem.

I ignored the simple things.

The things that made me happy weren’t what my life would bring.

I was narrow minded.

I looked merely at what I missed.

I only wanted more of the things that I can’t resist.

I finally see a little more clearly of what I have here today.

I still look to the future which isn’t far away.

It brings me hope and comfort, for you I wish it did the same.

Just don’t look directly at life, though that’s not what brings the rain.

The rain is your depression.

It rinses you clear of thought.

Your mind will run its circles and there is where you’re caught.

Just try to see the goodness underneath the gentle haze.

If we clear our eyes of rain we’ll get out of this daze.

We’ll see all of the beauty that sits here all of the time.

The flowers and the clear lakes, though made of rain, help our lives to shine.

I know that I’m no savior, but I can help you along the way.

I can’t stop the rain from falling, but I can be your umbrella today.
